Our History
CMC - Training at Work began trading in Victoria as a consulting business in 1997 under the name of Childcare Management Concepts. From 1997 - 1999, Childcare Management Concepts participated in a number of Commonwealth funded out of school hours support projects.
Childcare Management Concepts became a Registered Training Organisation in Victoria in July 1999 to deliver qualifications in the childcare industry through workplace training and assessment.
In 2002, our name changed to CMC - Training at Work to facilitate training in other areas and reflect our belief that training is best undertaken at work. CMC – Training at Work developed and implemented training in other industries such as aged care, assessment & training, first aid and food safety.
During 2005, our training and assessment services branched into South Australia and Queensland having been offered only in Victoria prior to this. This expansion has seen our training model being widely accepted by industry within the new regions.
In 2005, CMC piloted a program of School Based New Apprentices where 7 high school students were employed by CMC - Training at Work as trainees and hosted to workplaces. These students completed their Certificate III in Children's Services.
In 2006, the school based apprenticeship program grew to over 120 students in Victoria. In the same year, our first group of indigenous students started employment and traineeships in Queensland through the Structured Training & Employment Program (STEP) funded by the Department of Employment & Workplace Relations. The programs have seen 30 indigenous people enroll into the Certificate III in Children's Services.
In 2006, our first campus was opened in Brisbane (Queensland). Also in 2006, CMC – Training at Work extended its scope of delivery into Business (Administration) and Business (Frontline Management).
In 2007, our Melbourne (Victoria) and Adelaide (South Australia) campuses were opened. Also in 2007, CMC - Training at Work registered to trade under the name CMC Training College to better reflect our new college presence.
During 2007, CMC – Training at Work are applying to become registered as a CRICOS provider so that training and assessment services could now be taken up by students from overseas countries.
CMC Training at Work has developed strong partnerships with industry (employers) in the delivery of training and assessment services. This successful arrangement has been affective in ensuring that quality 'relevant' training outcomes are being received by both the student and the employer.
CMC Training at Work was an award winner in the 2002 Community Services and Health industry Training Awards, winning the innovation in Training and Assessment product section. In 2003, CMC was a finalist in the same awards under the innovation in Training and Assessment service delivery category.
