A range of training, resources and support services are available to CMC Training College students.
Student Common Area
The College has a student common area which students can use freely for eating, studying and liaising with other class-mates etc. The common area is fitted with vending machines for student use as well as a kitchenette. Tea, coffee and biscuits are offered to students during training session breaks.
Computers
Students are encouraged to pay their fees up-front for receipt of a free laptop. The College has wireless internet broadband so all students with a laptop will be able to use the college facilities to connect to the internet. Students without a laptop are able to book computer time at the college. Students who are unable to pay their fees upfront have the option of purchasing a laptop through the college for an additional price.
Students can print use college printers and photocopiers for a low rate of 5c per copy.
Library
CMC Training College has a library of resources related to children’s services available for students to use while on-campus. Students can use their free day on Fridays to visit the campus and use the resources while on-site. If there are child-care specific resources students require which are not available at the college library, students can request the college to consider buying the resource so it is available for the student to use. Requests should be made to the course trainer.
Teaching Resources
CMC Training College uses up-to-date teaching aids and resources for training sessions. All rooms are equipped with large TV screens to display class notes, DVDs and other class presentation materials.
Class Notes
Students will be provided with a copy of all class notes used during training sessions.
Books of readings
Books of readings are provided to each student as part of their course materials. These readings have been carefully selected by our course writers to provide support and learning material closely related to the content of each portfolio. All students are provided with their own copy of each book of readings related to their course.
Newsletters
A newsletter is developed each term and provided to all students. The newsletters will keep students up to date about current training events, student news, student case studies and testimonials and articles of interest to industry professionals.
Student Web Portal Access
All students have access to our website and student portal. Access to the student login section of the site is limited to our students. In this section students will be provided with specific information on their course – such as timetables, learning guides, career articulation, course outlines, online tests and useful web links. All students must register online for their unique ID and password and instructions on how to do this will be provided during orientation.
Student Cards
All International students will be provided with a student card upon commencement of the course. The student card will entitle students to student concession rates at a variety of venues and retail outlets. See individual outlets for information about what discounts may apply.
