Financial Hardship Applications
PURPOSE
To outline the policy relating to the approval of fee reductions for trainees and apprentices who are experiencing extreme financial hardship.
This policy aims to ensure that fair and reasonable judgments are made for all applications.
SCOPE
This policy applies only to User Choice trainees and apprentices who do not have a concession. Financial Hardship is not available to fee-for-service trainees or self funded students.
POLICY
Students on a state government funded traineeship or apprenticeship are eligible to apply for a fee reduction if they are experiencing severe financial hardship and can provide sufficient evidence of the hardship.
User Choice trainees and apprentices are advised of their option to apply for the fee reduction at the following times:
- In Fees and Charges Policy
- On Fee Outlines
- On Authority to Invoice Forms
- During Introduction
To apply for a fee reduction, the trainee or apprentice must apply to our office using the Application Form for Fee Reduction. The trainee or apprentice must provide:
- At least two recent pay slips.
- Evidence of high expenses. This may include a number of high ongoing utility bills, copy of loan agreement, signed letter from parents or accountant.
- A signature on the application form.
The Director will make a fair and reasonable judgment based on the evidence provided as to whether the fees should be reduced based on the hardship demonstrated.
The Director may ask to see additional evidence if not satisfied with evidence supplied.
CMC will notify the trainee or apprentice of the outcome of the application. Approved applications will have their fee reduced to the minimum concession fee.
A copy of the application will be kept on the students file.
