Training and Assessment

This course is from a new training package, released in October 2004.  The new Certificate IV in Training and Assessment provides greater depth and understanding in the areas of learning, learning design, using training packages and assessment.

The course is ideally suited to people who are required by their own organisations to design and facilitate training and/or assessment or for people who wish to extend their skills in new areas – like the training industry.

This course opens up a large range of opportunities for professionals in many industries.  The Certificate IV in Training and Assessment allows you to train and assess others in your profession.  It is the qualification required to train and assess for a private training organisation like CMC or to teach groups at TAFE.  For many professionals, this course offers the chance to take a refreshing new direction in their career.

To enrol in this course, students need to have access to a workplace where on-the-job training on a number of situations can be conducted.  This is a critical requirement of the course.  Students will also need a high level of written, communication and interpersonal skills to gain competency in this course.  For example, participants will be required to read and interpret training materials, develop and document learning programs, present information, facilitate training sessions and design and prepare various records and documents

The previous equivalent qualification - Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training (BSZ40198) is still an acceptable qualification for current trainers in VET but new trainers to the industry as of November 2005, must complete the Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAA40104).  Those with the BSZ may choose to upgrade to this course to refresh their knowledge and gain the new competencies.
